Question 1

Does it cost anything to use WorkLink?

Accepted Answer

No. Browsing, opening a profile and showing a phone number are free. You don't need an account to look. An account is only for saving someone, or for listing your own trade.

Question 2

How do I contact a tradesperson?

Accepted Answer

Open their profile and show the phone number, if they've published one. You ring them, and the job is agreed between the two of you.

Question 3

What does the price on a listing mean?

Accepted Answer

It's the price they published: a call-out, an hourly rate, a day rate, or a range. That's a guide, not a quote. Confirm the figure when you ring, especially if the job is bigger than the listing describes.

Question 4

What does the Verified badge actually mean?

Accepted Answer

That an identity check was recorded for the account: a government photo ID through Stripe Identity. It's optional. Someone without the badge can still be listed. The badge isn't a recommendation, and it isn't for sale.

Question 5

What if something goes wrong with the work?

Accepted Answer

Talk to them first. WorkLink didn't arrange the job and doesn't hold the money, so we can't refund it. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law still apply to the person who did the work. If the listing itself is misleading, report it.

Question 6

Can I leave a review?

Accepted Answer

A review on WorkLink is tied to a job recorded on the site. Because you ring them and the job happens between you, most profiles say “No reviews yet”. We don't invent a rating.

Question 7

What do I need to get started?

Accepted Answer

An account, and any licence your trade requires. Identity verification is optional. If you complete it, it's a government photo ID check, and that's what the Verified badge records. An ABN is optional. We check the number is well formed. We don't look it up on the Australian Business Register. You can publish without either.

Question 8

What does WorkLink charge?

Accepted Answer

Listing is free. A paid plan, if you want one, adds more listings, your logo beside your name, and a video on the listing. There are no lead fees, and we don't take a cut of the job. A plan doesn't buy a place in search results.

Question 9

How do I get paid for the work?

Accepted Answer

People find you and ring you. You agree the job and the payment between you. WorkLink doesn't take the money, and doesn't take a cut of the invoice.

Question 10

Can I bring my team?

Accepted Answer

Yes, from the Pro plan upwards. Each person who acts for the business can confirm their own identity. That check is optional, the same as yours.

Question 11

How do service areas work?

Accepted Answer

You pick how far you travel, as a phrase rather than a number of kilometres. You are shown to people in that reach, so you are not fielding calls from three hours away.

Question 12

What if I need to pause?

Accepted Answer

Set your availability to busy or unavailable, or switch the phone number off. Your profile can stay up. If the number is off, people can see you and can't ring you.

Question 13

How is my identity information handled?

Accepted Answer

Your ID is handled by Stripe Identity and isn't stored by WorkLink. We keep the result of the check and nothing else.

Question 14

How do I keep my account secure?

Accepted Answer

Use a long, unique password and turn on two-factor authentication in your security settings. Two-factor is required for WorkLink staff. We recommend it for a tradesperson's account.

Question 15

How do I report a listing or a review?

Accepted Answer

Open the listing or the review and report it. We read every report. A safety issue is treated the same day.

Question 16

Do you check licences?

Accepted Answer

No. We don't check licences, insurance or council permits, or that the work will be done well, so ask which licence they hold before they start. An identity badge means a photo ID check was recorded. An ABN badge means we accepted the number they typed. We don't look that number up on the Australian Business Register. Neither badge is a recommendation.

Question 17

Does WorkLink add GST to a job?

Accepted Answer

No. We don't bill anyone for the work. If a tradesperson is registered for GST, that's between you and them when you agree the price.

Question 18

Are partner plan prices inclusive of GST?

Accepted Answer

Plan prices are shown in Australian dollars. The tax invoice for a paid plan, if you buy one, itemises GST. The Free plan has no invoice.

Question 19

Where are my invoices?

Accepted Answer

Invoices for a paid plan live under Billing in the tradesperson hub. There is no WorkLink invoice for a job.

Question 20

Is my card safe if I buy a partner plan?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Partner subscriptions are handled by a billing partner. Card details are never stored by WorkLink. Customers don't pay WorkLink for the job.
